Chad Duell Appreciates His Time on General Hospital
On the podcast, Duell opened up about his decision to leave General Hospital, citing personal life changes, including the loss of his father and the new responsibility of fatherhood, as the primary reasons for his hiatus.
Benard acknowledged the generosity of General Hospital's Executive Producer, Frank Valentini, for leaving the door open for Duell and his character, Michael Corinthos, to return. Duell responded with gratitude, stating, "He didn’t need to do that. I realize how fortunate I am for that opportunity, and I am truly thankful."
Duell's Take on His Character's Exit
The discussion also covered Michael's current storyline, which has been met with mixed reactions from fans who are unhappy with the portrayal of his character as an explosion victim.
Duell, however, expressed his satisfaction with the storyline, saying he was “pleased” with how General Hospital chose to write his character's departure. He elaborated, "In terms of a typical soap opera exit, like getting shot or blowing up and disappearing?" (This refers to the exit of Morgan Corinthos, played by Bryan Craig, in 2016, who was last seen in a car explosion).
Benard also praised the execution of the explosion scene and the subsequent injury to Duell's character, describing it as a "well-executed" and visually striking moment, despite its gruesome nature.
