Actor and Hollyoaks personality Paul Danan, celebrated for his "luminous" presence, has died at 46.
Danan was known for his portrayal of the defiant Sol Patrick on the Channel 4 soap from 1997 to 2001, and later for his appearances on reality TV shows like Celebrity Big Brother and Celebrity Love Island.
He was scheduled to appear in Warrington Magistrates’ Court for a plea hearing on allegations of drug possession, as per court documents.

Danan was accused of driving under the influence of drugs in Warrington, Cheshire, on October 2 of the previous year.
Notable figures such as Bafta-winning Adam Deacon and Dean Gaffney have paid their respects to Danan.
A statement from Independent Creative Management conveyed: "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic loss of Paul Danan at the age of 46."
Recognized for his magnetic screen presence, exceptional talent, and unwavering empathy, Paul was a beacon for many.
"His untimely death leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him."
"We kindly request privacy and consideration for Paul’s loved ones during this difficult time."
Danan competed in ITV's Celebrity Love Island in 2005 and 2006, though he did not win on either occasion.
He also featured in the 2006 ITV2 series Calum, Fran And Dangerous Danan, alongside Fran Cosgrave, a former Westlife bodyguard, and Calum Best, son of George Best, as they traveled across the U.S.
In 2017, Danan joined Channel 5’s Celebrity Big Brother but was eliminated early, hoping the show would offer a "second chance" to reignite his career.
Longing to return to Hollyoaks, he launched the podcast The Morning After With Paul Danan, which ran from 2019 to 2023.
In 2020, he initiated Morning After Drama, a drama workshop that began with online sessions during the pandemic and transitioned to in-person sessions in London, Oxford, and the South West.
The organization, according to its website, focuses on young people, those recovering from addiction, and ex-offenders.
He also appeared on E4's Celebrity Coach Trip and Channel 4's sketch comedy series The Kevin Bishop Show.
Deacon described Danan as a "genuinely kind and compassionate person" in an Instagram story.
